You’ve already built a therapy practice that makes a real difference. Every day, your clinic provides mental health care to people who need it most.
As an entrepreneur, your next goal is clear – fill your team’s calendars quickly so more clients can get the support they deserve.
Google Ads is the fastest and most efficient way to make that happen. The platform puts your clinic in front of people searching for help right now. But here’s the part you may have heard over and over: many clinics spend thousands of dollars on ads and don’t get a single conversion.
The reason is the most obvious.
They treat Google Ads like a slot machine. They bid on keywords with very little research, target every person who searches about mental health, and send paid traffic to weak websites.
In this blog, I’ll show you how to invest exactly $900 a month and consistently book new clients. I’ve delivered these results for therapy clinics across Canada and I am spilling all the secrets here.
How Much Does Google Ads Cost in Canada?
Average cost-per-click (CPC) for mental health keywords in Canada is around $3.74.
Which means you’ll get around 8-10 clicks every day to your website when you spend $30 daily.
That’s 240 to 300 clicks every month!
I know exactly what you’re thinking.
Aren’t… aren’t these numbers too small?
Before I answer you, I’ll ask you a question – Do you want a thousand people waving at you, or do you want 200 people interested in signing up for weekly sessions?
Every single click represents a potential client that’s interested to learn more about your therapy services and how you can help them feel seen, understood, and overcome their mental health issues.
What $30/Day Can Realistically Deliver For Your Therapy Practice
Therapy or mental health campaigns in Canada typically convert at a 3–5% rate.
That means out of 100 clicks, your clinic could see 9 to 15 inquiries per month.
Now let’s go a step further. Not every inquiry becomes a booked client, but in therapy, a realistic lead-to-client conversion rate is around 15–20%.
So, those 9 to 15 leads will convert into 3 to 7 clients every month.
Here’s why the math works:
The average therapy client stays for about 8 to 10 sessions.
At $150 per session, even one new client brings in $1,200–$1,500 of revenue.
If 3 clients sign up, that’s $3,600 to $4,500 in revenue.
If 7 clients sign up, that’s $8,400 to $10,500 in revenue.
If your ad spend is $900, you’ve already made a strong return.

How to Maximize a $30/day Google Ads spend? (This is where I spill my secret formula)
As a PPC specialist, I aim for a 6-10% conversion rate for any Google Ads campaigns I build.
That’s double the national average for therapists in Canada.
With a low spend of $30/day, I plan to maximize every click and here’s how I stretch the budget to the fullest:
1. Target locally
Limit your ads to the city or neighborhoods you actually serve. A clinic in Mississauga doesn’t need clicks from Vancouver, even if you offer virtual services, unless you offer highly specialized therapy or are known nationally for it.
Potential clients tend to trust local therapists more because there’s an element of relativity. And being in the same time zone helps too.
If you have a physical location, target a 20-25 kilometre radius of your clinic.
If you’re also or only present virtually, select cities closest to you.
2. Choose niche keywords
Instead of bidding on broad terms like “therapy” or “mental health,” focus on keywords such as “anxiety therapy Toronto” or “couples counselling near me.” These searches show that someone is ready to act.
Keywords like “therapist in Mississauga” or “couples therapist in Toronto” are still too wide and will bring clicks for searches like “free therapy”, “do I need therapy”.
First, pick 1-2 services you’d like to advertise. Then, use Google Keyword Planner to search for niche keywords.
Let’s say you offer couple’s therapy. Use niche keywords like:
Couple’s therapists for attachment issues
Couple’s therapy on weekends
Couple’s therapy near me
These will be slightly more expensive than the average amount spent per click, but they will be strong leads ready to convert.
Pick 10 at the max. Any more than this confuses Google Ads’ algorithm.
3. Use negative keyword
Block irrelevant searches like “free therapy” or “therapy jobs.”
In this day and age, I would recommend you to use ChatGPT or Claude to generate a list of negative keywords and feed them into your account.
Set them at account-level, so you don’t need to repeat this step for new Google Ads campaigns.
4. Schedule ads during business hours
For Google Ads to perform the best, you need to have a phone number. Run ads during hours you or your staff can respond.
Even then, I recommend setting up an automated system for calls you may receive during after hours.
During your peak seasons of business, run them during the weekends as well.
5. Get your landing page optimized
Many campaigns fail here.
Your landing page just doesn’t need to load fast, it must be ready for conversions.
Make your phone number and email clickable. (So many therapy websites I’ve come across don’t have this option and honestly, this silly mistake is losing you thousands in revenue)
Don’t keep any animations or sliders. A simple, clear design with the right content outperforms clutter every time.
6. Build a creative ad copy
This is where things get interesting.
You need the following:
15 headlines – 30 characters each
Break them down into groups of three:
- Experience and Speciality: Highlight credentials, years in practice, or therapy types.
- Location and Convenience: Mention your city, online sessions, or flexible hours.
- Client Outcomes: Stress results like reduced anxiety, better relationships, or trusted care.
- Urgency/Calls to Action: Phrases like “Book Today” or “Start Healing Now.”
- Trust Signals: Words like “Licensed,” “Confidential,” or “Insurance Accepted.”
Leave one blank for {keyword}. This adds a dynamic headline every time a keyword from your list is searched.
It will ask for a default text to show if the keyword isn’t triggered. I recommend adding your therapy practice’s name here.
4 descriptions – 90 characters each
Focus on reassurance and the benefits of working with you. Highlight your speciality.
5-6 sitelinks – 70 characters each
Direct people to pages like “About Us,” “Meet Our Team,” “Online Therapy,” “Blog”, “Fees”, or any specific pages you’d like to drive traffic to.
10 callouts – 25 characters each
Short bursts of trust-builders: “Evening Appointments,” “Covered by Insurance,” “Science-Backed Methods.”
8-10 structured snippets each
Categories like “Therapies Offered: CBT, DBT, Couples, Trauma.”
Create a spreadsheet, so you can view and edit all this content at once.

What $30/day on Google Ads Can’t Do For Your Practice
It almost felt like all this information was too good to be true… didn’t it?
A $30/day budget is a smart starting point, but it has limits.
- It won’t always left you rank #1 on Google, which is why you need to find the right time schedule.
- You won’t be able to test multiple big cities or multiple ads.
- Remarketing won’t work because the number of people who showed interest in your ads is under 1,000.
- The learning phase is much slower, so Google algorithm takes longer to optimize your campaigns.
When and How to Scale?
Once your $30/day campaign is delivering steady inquiries, it’s time to think bigger.
Here’s when you know you’re ready to scale:
- You’re consistently generating 15+ inquiries per month.
- Your cost per lead is under $50–$80, leaving room for profit.
- You’re booking new clients from Google Ads every month.
If you’re hitting those benchmarks, increase your budget gradually. Move from $30 to $40/day, then $50/day, and track results at each step. This prevents wasted spend and shows you exactly where your campaign gains strength.
As you scale, you can:
- Add new service lines (eg, trauma therapy, couples counselling, or teen therapy).
- Test remarketing ads to bring back website visitors who didn’t book.
- Run branded campaigns so when people search your clinic by name, you stay visible above directories like Psychology Today.
